The Origin Story

Building where the gap used to be
He did not wait for the industry to make room.
Steven J. Gaither began his journalism career in 2005 and founded HBCU Gameday in 2012. What started as a response to an overlooked coverage gap grew into a leading destination for HBCU sports and news.
A graduate of Winston-Salem State University, Steven combines a reporter's discipline, a founder's vision and an instinctive understanding of the culture. His work has helped expand how HBCU stories are reported, presented and valued.
